Cabins on Strawberry Hill

By Noah Austin

STRAWBERRY The great thing about Arizona — well, one of many great things — is that a different climate is usually just a short drive away. That makes the Cabins on Strawberry Hill, located beneath the Mogollon Rim at an elevation of 6,100 feet, an ideal destination when the temperatures at lower elevations start rising. Each of the 14 chalet-style, one- and two-bedroom cabins features comfortable beds, a freestanding wood stove, a kitchenette and a private back patio. Restaurants, hiking trails, swimming holes and other diversions are nearby, and depending on the season, you might see elk, deer, javelinas or even a black bear at the cabins, which border the tall ponderosa pines of the Tonto National
Forest. True to its name, the property has several hundred strawberry plants from which guests can pick. The cabins have cable TV and Wi-Fi, too, but once you find out what summer feels like in Strawberry, we’re betting you’ll find better ways to spend your time.
