A Flagstaff community theater company is seeking the public's help after its building was damaged by a sewer backup earlier this month.

Theatrikos Theatre Company's basement at the Doris Harper-White Community Playhouse was flooded by 4,000 gallons of raw sewage after a city sewer line became clogged, the theater company said in a news release. The basement is where Theatrikos houses its costumes, furniture and props, along with its set-building shop and dressing rooms.

Theatrikos says its next show will open as scheduled on May 31, but the building's basement will have to be gutted and many materials will need to be replaced.

The group, which has been in Flagstaff for nearly 50 years, is raising money via GoFundMe to defray the costs of the cleanup. To donate to the effort, visit the campaign's website.
