The Arizona city of Casa Grande is competing for a share of $2 million in historic-preservation funding — and your vote can help the city get it.

Vote Your Main Street — a collaboration between National Geographic, American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation — features 25 American cities hoping to improve their historic sites. Until the end of October, visitors to the Vote Your Main Street page can vote for which project should receive a share of the funds, which are being provided by American Express.

Casa Grande is the only Arizona city on the list. It proposes to create a new "Vintage Neon Sign Park" to link the business and arts districts in the city. "The park will serve as a vibrant downtown destination while also building grassroots support for historic preservation," the proposal reads.

As of this writing, Casa Grande was fifth in votes, behind proposals for Birmingham, Alabama; West Hollywood, California; Cincinnati; and Valley Junction, Iowa. But surely Arizona Highways' loyal readers can help Casa Grande move up on the list.

Those who vote will also have a chance to enter to win a trip to Los Angeles, New York or Miami from National Geographic.
