Highway Signs Honor Grand Canyon's Centennial

The state of Arizona is joining this year's celebration of Grand Canyon National Park's centennial by putting up commemorative signs along the state's highways.

As the Associated Press reported, Governor Doug Ducey unveiled the signs in late February at the state Capitol in Phoenix. Forty of the signs will be placed, and some of them will replace signs that commemorated Arizona's centennial in 2012.

Ducey said the national park is a boon to Arizona tourism and that the signs are a chance to celebrate what the Grand Canyon means to Arizona, the AP reported.

The $30,000 cost of the signs was paid by the Arizona Office of Tourism and Arizona Public Service Co., according to the AOT.
