Arizona kids (and adults) who love building with plastic bricks can now visit one of just nine Legoland Discovery Centers in the United States.

The new center opened at Arizona Mills mall in Tempe last month. The 40,000-square-foot facility isn't as big as the Legoland theme park in California, but it still offers plenty of opportunities for building and viewing Lego creations.

Among the center's attractions: a Lego model of downtown Phoenix, made with more than 800,000 Lego bricks. In addition, the facility's Model Builder Academy features workshops hosted by Alecsander Posta, who in January won a contest won a contest to be named "Master Model Builder" for the Arizona site.

Visitors can also race their Lego-built cars down a ramp, visit the jungle gym and the 4-D cinema, and enjoy the Kingdom Quest Laser Ride and the Merlin's Apprentice Ride.

Just make sure you wear shoes. Stepping on a Lego brick while barefoot is no fun.
