March was a record-breaking month for Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The East Valley airport had its best month ever, with a 26 percent increase in passengers over last March.

Nearly 225,000 people traveled through the airport, making it the highest monthly passenger total in the airport's history.

“We are pleased that more and more air travelers are choosing the convenience of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport," said the airport's executive director,  J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E. "The airport has worked hard improving facilities and infrastructure to ensure we stay ahead of our record-setting growth.”

Gateway Airport has been preparing for passenger growth by increasing parking capacity, improving checked baggage handling systems, and expanding terminal roadways and Transportation Security Administration checkpoint lanes.
