Eastward from the town of Mesa, Lies the Superstition range. Land of death and gold and mystery, Land of legends, wild and strange.

Phantom voices whisper warnings, O'er it's frowning peaks and slopes, Yet adventurous white men enter, Thrilled by dreams of gold and hope.

Dreaded by the Maricopas, For they say that spirits dwell. Where the erstwhile fierce Apache, Raised his private brand of hell.

Some return with tales of treasure; Tales of fortune lost and found. Others stay to feed the buzzards, In this haunted burial ground.

Pimas fear it's dreary fastness, For they tell in days of yore, How Apaches lay in ambush; Slew the Pimas by the score.

Only coyotes, snakes and lizards, Find a haven there to rest. In this mountain of the mystery, Famed in legend of the West.

Many bones therein lie bleaching, Swept by sun and wind and rain, For they say that he who enters, May not e'er come out again.

Will men ever solve the riddle? Lay its secrets bare at last, 'Till the tribes again shall vanish, As they did in ages past.
