"Sky and Earth --- IN FOUR MOODS"

It's a moody land, its moods being many and varied. Sky and earth like arch conspirators combine their mystery and their sorcery to form strange new patterns, magnificent scenes by magnificent scene shifters. from the top of Sa-be-geh Mesa overlooking Monument Valley, tortuous to climb yet minutes on top worth the hours of climbing to get there.

The desert road is part of a mood or it may be sunset The patterns and moods of sky and earth change with each hour, each day, each season. A saguaro silhouette at evening has something of sadness about it, a haunting lone-liness, yet the desert is neither sad nor lonely.

Storm breaking in Grand Canyon is a study of rage and furious onslaught of the storm against canyon walls. Yet the canyon in most other moods is a thing of peace and calm. The very spaciousness of the land and the endlessness of the sky combine to form the perfect patterns and moods that make the country so different to the beholder from any other country he has ever seen. Different today. Different tomorrow. But underneath it is always the same.
