Condition of Roads on Arizona State Highway System

June, 1925 ARIZONA HIGHWAYS 21 SURVEYS
Survey is being made on the BisbeeDouglas Highway from Forest Station to Douglas to determine the sections of this highway in need of re-construction.
PERSONALS PATAGONIA-NOGALES NOTES
Reconstruction on the PatagoniaNogales highway project is nearing completion so far as the construction work is concerned. Dry weather has hin dered putting the road in first-class condition, but the blades have put a fairly good surface on it and traffic is increasing in consequence. With the advent of the summer rains this piece of highwav will be one of the best in the state, for the reason that it has some of the best natural road-building material for its foundation.
Mr. and Mrs. John Jones are happy over the arrival, April 20, of John Zender Jones. The Jones heir was born at the Fort Huachuca hospital and tipped the beam at 10 1-2 pounds.
We overlooked our correspondence last issue, when we should have reported that Jim Parker, although old enough to know better, suffered for several days with a bad attack of chickenpox. His eldest daughter, Dorothy May, had just recovered from the malady when Jim broke out with a case so severe that he has not altogether recovered his usual pep to date.
W. R. Hutchins, acting district engineer of District No. 4, was a recent visitor at this section of the state highway system, and expressed his satisfaction with progress being made on the project.
ARIZONA HIGHWAYS is being circulated here and has been the means of acquainting the public with the work accomplished and in progress by the department. The magazine is doing a wonderful work of education, in that it has given facts to the people about the department's activities that the public would not have had without this means of broadcasting the information, We like the magazine. It is filled with information of value and interest.
Mrs. Emma Broegman, of Richmond, Va., was a recent Patagonia visiter. She is Mrs. Jim Parker's mother and was formerly engaged in the real estate business in Milwaukee, Wis.
Recent rains, although light, have helped to put the Patagonia-Nogales road in better condition, as the surface packs better with the added moisture.
Jim Parker, Correspondent.

Building the Mormon Flat Bridge
(Continued from page 6) Slow orders, while the work of riveting and painting of the steel structure was in progress.
During these operations there were only short periods of an hour or two that traffic was impaired.
Although working under these difficulties, the work was finished February 28, 1925, and within the estimate allowed for the job. The extra expense and loss of time in taking care of traffic during construction was not anticipated, but due to the efficiency of the workmen, the structure was completed in record time.
