F. N. Grant, District Engineer Jack Casson has started the surfacing and oiling of 8 1-3 miles, F. A. 60 and 68-A beginning 11½ miles south of St. Johns and extending toward Springerville on Route 260. Jack Gilbert, Res. Engineer.
Hodgman and MacVicar has the contract for grading, draining and placing of subgrade stabilizer on nine miles of the Flagstaff-Fredonia Highway, F. A. E-95-D, and F. L. H. P. E-4-A, beginning at the Grand Canyon Bridge and extending south, 99 per cent complete. H. B. Wright, Resident Engineer.
The Arizona Sand and Rock Co. has been awarded a contract for the placing of subgrade stabilizer and oil processing by the plant mix method of approximately 5.9 miles on the HolbrookSt. Johns Highway, E. 78-B and F., beginning at the end of the pavement in Holbrook and extending east on Route 260, 41 per cent complete. Packard and Tanner have the surfacing and oiling of approximately 21 miles of the Holbrook-Winslow Highway by the plant mix method, F. A. Project E. 40, beginning at Holbrook and extending west. 17 per cent complete. Floyd J. Beeghly, resident engineer.

R. C. Perkins, District Engineer L. E. Dixon has the grading, and draining on F. A. Project 99-D on the Globe-Showlow Highway (which begins at Seven Mile Draw, about 19 miles northeast of Globe and extends northeasteryly approximately 11½ miles, 91 per cent complete. A. F. BUREAU OF PUBLIC ROADS PROJECTS IN ARIZONA
Under Construction: O. F. Fisher of Phoenix, Arizona has the contract for grading and draining 10.100 miles of the Cameron-Desert View Approach to Grand Canyon National Park at an estimated contract cost of $145,000.00. This work should be completed about October 1st. E. F. Strickler, Resident Engineer.
Surveys: A survey party under the direction of F. H. Horton is locating a line within the Grand Canyon National Park. The survey begins at Abyss Junction, on the Hermit Rest Road, and goes 20 miles westward to Havasupai Point.
A survey party under the direction of F. J. Wade is relocating between Clint's Well and Mormon Lake, on Forest Highway Route 3.
Bids Opened: On August 24th bids were opened for the construction of two timber bridges above Young, Arizona on the Globe-Holbrook Road. Corrigan and Trethewey of Miami were low bidders at $4,801.60, and award of the job to them has been recommended.
On August 31st bids were opened for the construction of Dead Indian Canyon Bridge on the Cameron-Desert View Approach Road to Grand Canyon National Park. Vinson and Pringle of Phoenix, Arizona were low bidders at $44,938.70 and award to them has been recommended.
On September 7th bids were opened for grading 9.688 miles of the Oak Creek National Forest Highway between the top of Oak Creek Hill and Flagstaff. Haddock and Lindberg of Pasadena, California were low bidders at $168,495.00 and award to them has been recommended.
Bids to be Opened: On September 21st bids will be opened for the reerection of one steel truss bridge across Cherry Creek five miles north of Young in Gila County.
On September 21st, bids will be opened for grading and draining Strawberry Hill 6.87 miles of the Pine-Winslow Forest Highway, located in Coconino and Gila Counties.
On September 26th bids will be opened for the construction of one railroad overpass near Adamana and seven multiple span concrete bridges. This work is located in the Petrified Forest National Monument in Apache and Navajo Counties.

The attention of bidders is directed to the Special Provisions covering subletting or assigning the contract and the use of Domestic Materials.
Labor lists shall be obtained from the Yavapai County Re-employment Committee Chairman, B. B. Shimonowsky, Prescott, Arizona.
The rate of wages paid all labor employed on this contract shall not be less than shown on Sheet 2.
