The warm light of a desert sunset contrasts with winter's chill at Catalina State Park, where a fresh dusting of snow coats the slopes of the Santa Catalinas.

WENT INTO THE CATALINAS...

It sounds like a joke, doesn't it? It's not. We just wrote that to get your attention. When it comes to photography, Jack Dykinga is dead serious. That's why he has a Pulitzer sitting on his mantel. Or maybe it's shoved in a drawer — that's more Jack's style. Like other great artists, Jack's not motivated by medals and trophies. He's motivated by great photography, which is what he delivers in this month's portfolio of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Is it award-winning? Time will tell. Could he care less? Probably not.
