Adamsville, Pinal County, the site of Arizona's first modern flour mill, was one of the most prominent settlements in the Southwest in its day. Once famed as a town of "bad men," its absence of law and order caused its law abiding citizens to abandon it and form the settlement of Florence a few miles up the river. Its ruins are fabled to guard the lost loot of a notorious gang of bandits. The remains are accessible to motorists traveling the Tucson road via the Casa Grande ruins. The above examples are typical. There are many more. Ehrenberg, Gila City, Calabasas, Galeyville, Christmasall are ghost towns of Arizona's yesterday.
