Route 19, Clifton-Alpine National Forest Highway H. J. Hagen has contract for grading and installation of drainage structures on a portion of Section B of this route. Length of project is 1.854 miles. Work is about 80% complete. C. H. Clark, resident engineer.

Route 30, Globe-Showlow National Forest Highway Packard Contracting Company, Phoenix, Arizona, has contract for construction of a bridge across Showlow Creek on Section B of Arizona Forest Highway Route 30, Globe-Showlow, and grading and placing subgrade reinforcement on Section C of the same route. California-Arizona Federal Lands Route 8 Wickes Engineering and Construction Company, Des Moines, Iowa, has contract for construction of Parker Bridge and approaches. Length of project 0.84 miles. W. K. Bertken, resident engineer.

National Park Projects: J. A. Casson, Phoenix, Arizona, has contract for placing bituminous treated surfacing on Grand Canyon Route 8. Length of project 8.639 miles. Work will be started when weather conditions permit. V. G. Watson, resident engineer.

G. Clay Gates, Thermopolis, Wyoming, has contract for installation of 17,000 feet of metal plate guard rail on the Cameron-Desert View Approach to Grand Canyon National Park. Length of project 28 miles. Work has not yet been started.

Skousen Brothers, Albuquerque, New Mexico, has contract for grading, base course, and light surface application on a portion of Grand Canyon Route 4 and Sections C, D, E, and F of the Jacobs Lake Approach to the North Rim. Length of project 31.93 miles. On account of snow, work will not be started until about May 1st.

It's news when business men go to school and still bigger news when a school is put on wheels and goes to the business men. That is exactly what has happened in Phoenix.

C. H. Shivvers, division manager announces the Shell School, which is touring the West, opened sessions April 5 and 12 for a term of six days each, with thirty-five members in each class with the Shell Oil Company staff as pupils. The school is a unique traveling lab oratory a complete course in oil pro duction and refining ingeniously packed in a specially built truck. Dr. G. P. Koche, instructor, carries with him scores of samples of petroleum products, many models of gears and other mechanical devices, and nearly two hundred giant photographs and charts mounted on rol ler curtains, a folding platform, loud speaking equipment, special lights and other paraphernalia, turning an ordin ary hotel auditorium into a first class school room in no time at all.

With this lab, picture curtains, and a new text book written by himself, Dr. Koche takes his pupils on a vivid tour of oil fields and refineries, and gives them an extensive course in the lubrication of industrial machinery, the subject chosen for study at one session of study at the school.

The purpose of the school is to take information about all the latest develop ments in lubrication direct to the men in the field.
