GASOLINE A Parade of
The automobile represents America at her greatest: and now that the 1940 models have been taken out of their crisp, new packages, motoring America has had a chance to see and drive the finest automobiles ever built.
The automobile has caused to be built in America the greatest highways in man's history. These highways. too, have made and are making America great. And it's a merry chase between the engineer to build bigger and better highways to carry the bigger and better automobiles turned out by the automotive engineer!
Good roads and a 1940 Hudson carried the Arizona Motorlogue party to Chiricahua National Monument in Cochise county. A fine road has been built by the Park Service into the very heart of this Wonderland of Rocks. (West and Alen: state Hudson distributors.) Mr. Ford's very trim and speedy Ford V-8 (above) added to the delight of a journey over the Apache Trail. Here the Ford is parked on the side of the road, while Photographer Max Kegley pointed his camera lense at Canyon Lake. (Consolidated Motors, Ford distributors.) The San Xavier Mission, near Tucson, was the destination of a trip made in a strong, fast, sleek 1940 Packard. You know: "Ask the man who owns one!" Phoenix Packard Motor company: state Packard distributors.) We don't know which is most interesting, Boulder dam or the attractive 1940 Chrysler. Truth to tell, they are both pretty good jobs. In fact we would like to have both in our back yard. (Ed Luke Motor company: state Chrysler distributors.)
BUGGIES 1940 Styles
The 1940 gasoline buggies displayed in these pages were provided by automobile dealers of Phoenix in connection with the Arizona Motorlogues appearing this fall in the Arizona Republic. These motorlogues were prepared by the Arizona highway department, in the promotion of automobile travel in Arizona. As these motorlogues continue, other models will be showed off herein. ARIZONA HIGHWAYS proudly presents "Gasoline Buggies: A Parade of 1940 Styles" as a tribute to the automobile maker and his dealer. Drive on! There's scenery and good roads ahead!
If you drive much in Arizona, you'll come to a ranch. Here is the 1940 Chevrolet looking in for a few moments chat at the Saguaro Lake Ranch, near Stewart Mountain dam. Even the horses show admiration. (Ed Rudolph, Phoenix Chevrolet dealer.)
