Mexican Sketch Book: Diego Rivera

Guaymas FISHING CENTER
GUAYMAS is Sonora's picturesque fishing port on the Golfo de California, 270 miles south of Nogales. Americans, traveling by train and highway, are going to this port in greater numbers each year, attracted by the quaint appearance of the town and the excellent big-game fishing available there. Guaymas (Gwi-mahs) is famed, too, for its Playa de Cortés, an ultra-modern resort operated by the Sud Pacífico de México (the Southern Pacific of Mexico.) Miramar Beach, a colony of cottages by the sea, is also popular with Americans.
Junta Peñasco ROCKY POINT
A few hours travel southward from Ajo, Arizona, brings the traveler to Punta Peñasco, also on the Golfo de California, a place which will in time be a popular fishing resort for Americans because of its proximity to this country. While developments at Rocky Point have not been great, the Point has been connected by rail with Mexicali and a paved road will connect it with Sonoyta, forty miles south of Ajo. Ambitious plans are being made to transform Rocky Point from just a sandy beach to a modern beach resort.
Punta Peñasco, but a few hours from Arizona is destined to be one of the popular fishing resorts for Americans in México.
