Christmas Idyl

In such a lovely site as this, Wrapped in by the virgin snow, The Christ-Child could have laid His head That night so long ago. For it mattered not where He was born, The hour, the place, or clime. He brought messages of love and peace For all nations and all time.

In such a lonely place as this, Withdrawn from the rest of the earth, The angels could have sung their song Of the blessed Jesus' birth.

It matters not the continent That heralded the sacred morn. He brought salvation for the world With a cross and a crown of thorn.

In such a lowly spot as this, In the midst of worldly strife, We of today can find that peace, The essence of His life. For it matters not the toil and pain It is our lot to bear. We have the fortunate privilege His love and peace to share.
