Arizona is the land of sunshine, the land of desert, the land of amethyst mountains. Visitors from all over the world are attracted by the delightful winter climate of southern Arizona, and the cool, pine-scented summer climate of our high country. They come to seek the warmth of our sunshine, the inspiration in our desert and our mountains, the rest and quiet of a slower tempo of life. The Old West means a way of life. Perhaps this is the greatest charm offered to our visitors at our ranches, resorts, lodges and hotels scattered throughout the sunlit miles of our country. It is the simple life, the pleasant life, close to the good earth and to nature, close to the sun and the mountain top.

The charm of our country, the peace and restfulness, is highly accentuated after the golden sun sinks behind the distant hills, and darkness envelops the countryside. Then the desert moon rises to its full glory. Moonlight parties, and desert moonlight horseback rides highlight the many features emanating from Arizona's many resorts. The regal beauty of giant saguaro cacti silhouetted against a moonlit desertland is a sight to behold, and is quite unlike anything to be experienced elsewhere. As Dick Wick Hall put it, "The wonderful peace and quiet of it, which only the dweller of the desert can understand and appreciate. Here at last, I thought, is one place where I can do as I please and no one to bother me, where I can get acquainted with myself and find the something that every man in his own soul is consciously or unconsciously searching for himself."
