Historic old Customs House at San Blas, State of Nayarit, a reminder of the days of Spanish colonial days.

Lower photograph: The main plaza at Hermosillo, capital of the State of Sonora. Hermosillo is the first city of importance going southward on the West Coast Highway route. Despite modernization activities, the city founded in 1742 retains much of its colonial flavor. The highway passes through the campus of the University of Sonora. Among the fine old buildings of interest are the Cathedral and the Palacio del Gobierno shown in our photograph. The main plaza is especially noted for its beautiful trees and a classic kiosko (bandstand).
