RIGHT: Indian model Reba Numkena coordinated the fashion show which was a pleasant sidelight to the National Indian Education Association conference recently held at the Phoenix Convention Center. Here, Reba models a contemporary blouse fashioned from hand-dyed fabric of Hopi textile designer Manfred Susunkewa. A pioneer of the arts and crafts development in Scottsdale, Manfred has been a resident there for twenty some years. In his studio at 4245 Craftsman Court he displays his fabrics which have been carefully selected, hand dyed and silkscreened with original designs. His work has found its way into one-of-a-kind shirts, blouses, dresses, drapes and wall hangings. - PAUL MARKOW
