Solar Architecture

Rand's concept of life is shown in his designs for self-contained living using solar power. Security and independence is emphasized by a rooftop greenhouse, right, and in the model, below, where one room has been added to several times, to meet the needs of a growing family. The concept of Rod Frier, bottom right, shows a modern medical center using the Sky-Therm system for heating and cooling.FOLLOWING PANEL: pages 24-25 Artist Robert McCall's concept of "Solar Farms, Arizona 1995" is from the flight deck of a huge airship of advance design, one of many used to supply the vast solar energy facilities that may one day spread over remote and unused Arizona desert. Power from such farms may provide a good portion of our nation's energy needs.
