Where the blue waters of the Caribbean caress magnificent stretches of powdery white palm laced beaches . . . Mexico's Turquoise Riviera is in Quintana Roo, off the eastern coast of the Yucatan peninsula. Quintana Roo is famous for its three Caribbean island resorts: Cancun, Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. All three are great for fishermen, skin divers, spear fishermen, snorkelers, boaters and beach lovers. The sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean are so transparent that skin divers can see for 130 feet below the water.
At Cancun billions of dollars have been spent and billions more are committed by the Federal Government in cooperation with the Banco de Mexico, the central bank which is also coordinating private investment in hotels and services. The choice of Cancun was no fluke. The location was actually selected by a computer, following a 3-year study of meteorological and geographic factors, transport facilities and tourists preferences and habits.
