ROBERT LEE HOUSER IS THE SON of the distinguished artist, Allan Houser. He signs his work “Bob Haozous,” electing to use the name of his paternal grandfather, Haozous, the Apache word meaning “Pulling Roots.” He has a rich ancestral mixture: his father is of Apache and English descent, and his mother, the former Anna Marie Callegos, of Navajo and Spanish.
