Nowhere but in the arid canyons of the Southwest do streams play such a vital role in the support of life and form such an attraction to photographers. For in these wild places spectacles exist, their cycles solely dependent on water.

THE DESERT STREAM

In southern Arizona there are dozens of water-carved canyons where streams descend from mountain heights to flow to the desert below. Each has its own personality with waterfalls, plunge pools, and hidden pockets of lush vegetation. The breathtaking spectacle of thundering flash flood, the warm colors of a sunlit cliff reflected in sky-blue water, the sculpted rock, the variety of flora and fauna, and the ever-changing moods of these canyons provide limitless opportunities for photography and entice me to return again and again.
