Photographing fall color requires exact timing. Our photographer''s first attempt in October was botched by hurricanelike winds that caused the big trees to thrash back and forth. Then, in November, perfection.

CAPTURING AUTUMN

November conditions were perfect for photographing bigtooth maples. A kaleidoscope of colors dazzled my eyes. And an overcast sky provided the rich diffuse light I needed to capture their glorious autumn dress. These were rare photographic times when all went right.
