THE SEASONS OF ARIZONA

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.

SPRING

Arizona is a land composed of three distinct regions: the plateau, the rim country, the basin and range. Each is a natural domain in which the four seasons of the year paint their varied moods upon the land. And in each of the areas, nature strives to outdo herself. The plateau region is a place ravaged by eons of wind, rain, ice, and each mile offering mountains and snow. A land whose beauty often is stark. Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon exist here. The rim country wears a softer smile. Here among its mountains and crags, great trees reach for the sun. The greatest expanse of piñon pine trees is here. The basin and range is the desert, valleys and plains and sky islands. Here are the Huachucas, the Sierra Anchas, the Kofas, and the Chiricahuas set in the dust of mountains come and gone. In the portfolio following, masters of landscape photography explore the four seasons in each of these regions. Join them as they seek to capFuture nature's extraordinary variety.
