Regarding tracks. Here it is: 'Because of the sulphur smoke from the great smelters west of Douglas, there are practically no lawns growing in town. The grass is dead.' The editor ought to come down to see us sometime. Seems as though some one has been spoofing him and he fell for it."
To the editor of Kiwanis Propeller, to the secretary, Mr. McCue, of the Douglas Chamber of Commerce; to all the good folks of Douglas, the editor of Arizona Highways humbly apologizes for an over-sight.
Douglas, to tell the truth, is a very beautiful city and the visitor arriving there for the first time is instantly charmed by the wide, clean streets, the trees and flowers and lawns.
"Douglas conducts two very successful flower shows each year," Mr. McCue in-forms us, "one during the summer months and the other, which has grown to county-wide popularity, the annual chrysanthemum show sponsored by the Douglas Lions club. This does not take into consideration either the beautiful flowers of all kinds which are shown at the annual Cochise county fair held in October."
We hope that the above explanation will remove us from the list as Public Enemy No. 1 of Douglas.
We seem to be devoting much space this time to letters. We have received several in our office which we have enjoyed immensely. We wish to thank all our friends for their thoughtful com-ments, and in the meantime may we show you the following:
who have traveled through and in it many, many times, each time with more appreciation and fascination than the time previous.
Each issue of your magazine is one of lasting interest. I have climbed over the White mountains with your writers and stalked the wild turkey in their lairs, fished the clear cold streams, chased Indian marauders, run the rapids on the trip down the Colorado River, flown up and down the Grand Canyon, composed music, and enjoyed every minute of it, without leaving the pages of your mag-azine. Please keep up the good work and me on your mailing list. Sincerely, Earl Albert Russell, PHOENIX, ARIZONA that he is now headed "out Arizona way." The addition to your staff of that able writer and radio-speechifier, Ernest Douglas, will help to maintain the high standard your magazine has reached. Sincerely yours. John L. Gay, Rt. 8, Box 449, Phoenix, Arizona.
