Recreation unlimited in County's scenic and natural resources LAKE PLEASANT REGIONAL PARK is the only water-oriented park and the only park lying in two counties. Land and water area of 14,382 acres, 5,700 in Maricopa County and 9,682 in Yavapai County. Elevation range: 1,420 to 2,400 feet. Dam completed in 1927 stores water of Agua Fria River.

WHITE TANK MOUNTAIN REGIONAL PARK, covering 28,195 acres is the largest and most primitive in the System. Elevations range from 1,370 to 4,087. Numerous archaeological sites and petroglyphs.

CASEY ABBOTT SEMI REGIONAL PARK was originally part of Estrella Mountain Regional Park. 18-hole public golf course constructed in 1963.

BUCKEYE HILLS SEMI REGIONAL PARK comprising 3,627 acres at elevations ranging from 850 to 1859 feet, is the newest addition to the System.

ESTRELLA MOUNTAIN REGIONAL PARK, with adjacent Casey Abbott Semi Regional Park, comprises 18,592 acres. Elevation ranges from 900 to 3,650 feet. Called "Star of the Desert," the park has considerable historical interest and pioneer lore.

CAVE CREEK SEMI REGIONAL PARK near famous Go John Mountain occupies 2,592 acres. The area now thrives with resort and vacation development. Maximum summer temperatures are somewhat lower than the Salt River Valley and Phoenix.

McDOWELL MOUNTAIN REGIONAL PARK covers 20,942 acres near Fort McDowell Mohave-Apache Indian Reservation. Elevation varies from 1,550 to 3,100 feet. Fort Mc-Dowell, only U.S. fort in Maricopa County, established southeast of park in 1865. Remains of fort still exist.

USERY MOUNTAIN SEMI REGIONAL PARK occupies 3,048 acres near the Superstition and Goldfield mountain ranges. It is close to the southern terminus of a major sheep trail. Elevation range: 1,700 to 2,370 feet.

THUNDERBIRD SEMI REGIONAL PARK, 720 acres of attractive desert area, particularly serves the citizens of Glendale. The park has a fine outdoor amphitheater. Elevations range from 1,300 to 1,862 feet.

BLACK CANYON SHOOTING RANGE AND RECREATION AREA, 2,867.20 acres, 8 miles north of Adobe, Arizona at junction of Black Canyon Highway and Carefree Highway.
