UNDER CONSTRUCTION The W. E. Caliahan Construction Company of Dallas, Texas, has the contract for the construction of the Rio Puerco and Dry Creek Bridges within the Petrified Forest National Monument at an es-timated cost of $155,000. The Utah Construction Company of Ogden, Utah, has the contract for the grad-ing and drainage of 6.32 miles of the Oak Creek Canyon Highway between Indian Gardens and the "Call of the Canyon" resort. The estimated cost of the project is $175,000, and the work is now 45 per cent complete. E. J. McCracken, resident engineer.

Everly & Allison of Albuquerque, New Mexico, have the grading and drainage of 7.1 miles of the Cameron-Desert View Approach Road to the Grand Canyon National Park. The estimated cost of the project is $180,000. The work is 50 per cent complete. E. F. Strickler, resident engineer.

Bids were opened on April 5th for the grading and drainage of one mile of approach road to the Chiricahua National Monument in Cochise County. W. м. Tenney, Jr., was low bidder but award of the contract to him was delayed until June 13.

Hodgman and MacVicar have the contract for the grading and drainage of 20 miles of the Pine-Winslow Forest Highway Route 10, beginning approximately seven miles north of Clint's Well, and extending to the North Forest Boundary, 30 miles southwest of Winslow. The project was closed down on November 7, 1931, for the winter, and at that time was 70 per cent complete. Work was resumed on April 8th and is now 95 per cent complete. R. S. Black has the contract for the grading and drainage of 5.432 miles of the Pine-Winslow Forest Highway beginning at Clint's Well, and extending northwest to a connection with the south end of the Hodgman & MacVicar contract. This project, when closed down November 7th, 1931, for the winter, was 63 per cent com-pleted. Estimated cost is $48,000, and C. R. Dalton is resident engineer. Work was resumed May 20 and is now 85 per cent complete.

George Oswald has resumed work, after a winter shutdown, on his contract for the subgrade reinforcing and oil surfacing by the plant mix method 17.199 miles of the Grand Canyon-South Approach Road. The estimated cost is $135,000, and project is now 35 per cent complete. V. G. Watson, resident engineer.

On June 1, 1932, work was resumed on Units, 7, 8 and 9 of Project 11, near Heber, on the Payson-Holbrook Highway. Work was 75 per cent completed when closed down for the winter on November 7, 1931. The total length of these three station contracts is 1.1 miles and the estimated cost is $6,000. D. L.
