Earlier this month, our friend and longtime Arizona Highways contributor suffered a catastrophic fall while rock climbing in a remote part of Sedona. He sustained a traumatic brain injury and severe facial fractures. He is currently unable to see.
According to the GoFundMe established to support John and his family, "At about 40 feet up, the sub-pillar within the chimney collapsed violently, sending John careening down in an uncontrollable fall and causing all of his protection to rip out."
John remains hospitalized indefinitely, and we join the outdoors and photography communities in wishing him and his family love and healing.
Where you can, please consider a donation to help support John and his family.
