Who let the dogs out in downtown Phoenix?

The city has opened a dog park in a small patch of grass outside the City Council chambers at Third Avenue and Jefferson Street.

Phoenix and Downtown Phoenix Partnership received some funding help from PetSmart Charities to transform the area into a haven for four-legged residents.

According to The Arizona Republic, Phoenix city officials helped christen the park this week. They have decided to name it Thelda Williams Paw-Pup Park in honor of interim Mayor Thelda Williams, who is a dog lover.

Downtown Phoenix officials will monitor the park and see if it will become a permanent fixture.
