The future of the David and Gladys Wright House, a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Phoenix, remains up in the air.

The house, which the famed architect designed for his son and daughter-in-law in the 1950s, was slated for demolition before Zach Rawling bought it a few years ago. Rawling hopes to turn it into a public destination and event space in Phoenix's Arcadia neighborhood, but those plans have stalled amid opposition from some residents.

Arizona State University had been mentioned as a possible owner or operator of the house, but as The Arizona Republic reported this month, ASU won't be moving forward with those plans.

Rawling is seeking a "landmark" designation for the house, which would enable him to then seek a permit to open the house for commercial activity, such as performances and weddings.

Free tours and events were being conducted at the house up until this month. They stopped May 7, though a wedding in November will go on as scheduled.
