Las Posadas of Sedona is at the very first traffic circle you come to when you roll into Sedona from State Route 179, but it’s easy to overlook anyway. That’s partly because of Red Rock Country’s scenery, including a nice view of Bell Rock to the north. It’s also because the much larger Sedona Golf Resort and Hilton Sedona Resort are just across the road. But there’s a reason this boutique inn is among the area’s best-reviewed hotels.

It starts with the rooms. Most of them are 650-square-foot suites, and every suite includes a king bed in the bedroom and a queen pullout sofa in a separate sitting area. Between the two rooms is a double-sided, easy-to-operate gas fireplace, and there’s also a kitchenette and a large bathroom with both a soaking tub and a shower. If you need more space, book one of the 1,500-square-foot villas, each of which has a full kitchen, a dining room and a large balcony or patio.

There’s cable TV and excellent Wi-Fi in the rooms, but if you’re visiting the Sedona area, you should be using Wi-Fi only to Instagram your adventures. On the property, you’ll find a pool and hot tub, and hiking trails in the Bell Rock area are a short drive north. Just south of the hotel, at the Red Rock Ranger District Visitor Center, is the start of the Woods Canyon Trail, an easy climb into the nearby Munds Mountain Wilderness. And when you return after a day of burning calories, there are numerous dining options just across the highway.

Breakfast is even more convenient, and after a quiet night’s sleep in your suite, you won’t even have to change out of your pajamas. The Las Posadas dining room offers guests a rotating selection of Southwestern fare — on a recent morning, it featured green chile chicken enchiladas, served with two eggs — plus assorted fresh fruit and baked goods. It’s the perfect start to another day of adventure, or to a reluctant trip home after a family vacation.

Add in the fact that Las Posadas is surprisingly affordable, and it’s no wonder the inn sees plenty of repeat customers. One recent online reviewer summed it up best: “This really felt like a private property more than a hotel. We’ll happily be back.”
