Traditional hotels are easy to find in Prescott. Inns and B&Bs, too. Non-traditional lodging, however, is limited. But thanks to Spencer Andrews and his family, there’s another option. The timeline of their new venture began in 2020, when Andrews set out to create a lodge that combined a “silver bullet” retro aesthetic with modern amenities. It came together in 2023 with the debut of Air Village, which features 10 remodeled 34-foot Avion trailers situated among elm trees on Montezuma Street a block south of Courthouse Square. The trailer lodge has been a hit, hosting about 125 visitors per month since it opened.

“I’ve always been into camping,” Andrews says, “and I’ve stayed at similar lodges and loved the experience, so we decided to take the idea of above-ground trailers and make them more permanent.” He says the location, previously home to another lodging destination, was a perfect fit for the concept: “There is this beautiful creek that borders the property, and it just felt very peaceful.”

Although Air Village is tucked away, it’s just a block away from Whiskey Row, meaning guests are within walking distance of Prescott’s shops, restaurants and saloons, but far enough away to not be kept awake by rowdy nighttime revelers.

Andrews’ non-traditional approach extends to the day-to-day operations. There’s no front desk and no key exchange, and the entire booking process is done online, much like when reserving a property via Airbnb. However, a staff member is always available if a guest needs help, Andrews says.

Each trailer includes a kitchenette with a coffee maker, a queen bed and a TV, along with heat and air conditioning. Outside, there’s a grassy area for dogs, as well as an additional area where larger groups can host gatherings. Fire pits provide a place to unwind during cooler seasons, and each trailer has its own private outdoor space where guests can relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

“We wanted to maximize the space that we found, and it has evolved into what it is today,” Andrews says. “This isn’t your traditional hotel room — it’s an experience.”
