For 20 years, Dawn Trapp drove by the same property every day on her way to work. She knew it had potential. “I’d always say, ‘This is such a beautiful place, and it could be something,’ ” she says. So, when the 5-acre plot in Williams was put up for sale in 2012, Trapp and her husband didn’t hesitate to buy it. Having owned a travel agency, Trapp had some experience in the hospitality industry, and she decided to put it to use by transforming the property into a bed and breakfast. The space already had cabins and a house on it, but all of the buildings needed significant work. The Trapps spent three years renovating and bringing the structures up to code before opening Trapper’s Rendezvous in 2015.

The B&B uses the cabins as six guest rooms, each with a different theme. The Cataract Creek Room is all about fishing and is accented with blue decor, while the Antlers Room pays homage to the large hunting community in Williams.

Unlike many B&B’s, Trapper’s Rendezvous welcomes children and has an outdoor space with games and activities for families to enjoy. “It gives you a feeling of being way out in the open,” Trapp says. “There’s a little creek that runs behind the property, and it feels like being out in the Old West.” But those looking for an intimate getaway are covered, too: Trapp says despite the name, the Wild Wild West Room has a romantic feel.

While each cabin offers a rustic atmosphere, modern comforts and amenities such as luxury robes, toiletries and free Wi-Fi add to the comfort and convenience of each stay. As for the breakfast portion of the B&B, Trapp says guests can expect a full hot breakfast featuring everything from homemade muffins to French toast. “Our innkeepers love to cook, and they put a lot of love into the big, hearty breakfast,” she says.

Summer is a busy time for bookings, so Trapp suggests making weekend reservations ahead of time and giving yourself at least two days to enjoy what Williams has to offer. “There’s so much to see, from Bearizona to the Grand Canyon,” she says. “And what’s so fun is that when you walk down the street, almost all of the restaurants have outdoor music. Williams is an amazing community.”
