For years, Jim and Jean-Marie Bellington owned and operated the LazyG, a circa-1945 trailer park along Prescott’s Granite Creek. But amid day-to-day operations, the Bellingtons dreamed of opening a brewpub on-site. Although the trailer park is now closed, the couple extended its legacy and made their restaurateur dreams come true when they launched the LazyG Brewhouse on the property in 2019.

Three years later — and having survived the COVID-19 pandemic — the restaurant and brewery is popular among Prescott locals and visitors alike, having been voted Prescott’s best brewery and best restaurant in The Daily Courier’s Readers’ Choice Awards in 2021.

“LazyG Brewhouse has been in our minds for years, just waiting for the opportunity to bring our dream to Prescott,” Jim says. “With a passion for craft food and beverages, and a commitment to ‘doing it right,’ we’ve worked to create a gathering place for families and friends — a place where people will enjoy the casual, welcoming environment to just come hang out, relax and enjoy handcrafted beer and a variety of great food.”

That handcrafted beer comes to life at the LazyG’s in-house, 10-barrel brewery, and the list of offerings is ever-changing. At press time, favorites included the Sunshine Blonde, the Six Hour Drive IPA, the Queen’s Caravan Pub Ale and the Doolin’s Irish Stout.

The pub also offers a rotating selection of wines, ciders and meads. And when it comes to food, the Bellingtons don’t mess around, either.

The LazyG’s regular menu items include brewhouse poutine — crispy tater tots, bacon, beer cheese, shredded cheese and green onions — along with pickle fries, grilled chicken wings, a variety of fresh salads, soups and chili, four different burgers, a grilled cheese of the day and more.

“In addition to our food and beer, it’s the environment that our guests enjoy,” Jim says. Among the space’s attractions are a view into the brewery, a 30-foot bar with 24 rotating taps, and a connection to the popular outdoor space known as “The Park.” There, friends, families and their four-legged pals can hang out and relax with yard games, fire pits, live music and the LazyG’s iconic Trailer Bar, where beers are poured from a 1958 Cardinal “Canned Ham” trailer.

It’s the type of place where long, lazy afternoons are made.
