If it really is all in a name, then Flagstaff’s Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast is spot on. The town’s star-laden dark skies are just a little more spectacular from the inn’s residential location, and the pines are as abundant as the views of Mount Elden. Both are best viewed from the swing on the wraparound porch. The four guest rooms that fill the Victorian-inspired home are each named after the Tiffany-style lamps that grace the antique furnishings.

The Dragonfly Room is understandably the most popular, with its wood-burning fireplace and 6-foot antique claw-foot tub. The owners at Starlight Pines also take the “breakfast” part of their name seriously, serving up a decadent two-course affair. The grapefruit brulée takes fruit to a whole new level, and the Grand Marnier French toast sends guests out on a high note to explore Flagstaff or do a little more porch-swinging.
