Having worked in the corporate world in Denver, the Santys wanted something new. The Sheridan House fit the bill. “It just seemed a perfect fit to run a B&B and help people’s vacation dreams come true,” Debbie says. 

The inn offers eight room options. All of them have private bathrooms and are comfortably furnished with upscale amenities for two people. And several have porches or balconies that guests can use to enjoy the scenic and peaceful surroundings. “People need to escape from reality and reconnect,” Debbie says. “That’s what this place is all about.” 

It’s about customization, too. Depending on the details you provide, Debbie and her staff prepare each room with personal touches to make guests feel as if it had been created just for them. Anniversaries, birthdays and “just because” trips are treated equally. “As far as we’re concerned, any day is worth celebrating,” Debbie says.

Mark, a self-described foodie, is respon­sible for the fresh breakfast that’s
served every morning. Guests can choose from a variety of options the night before and have their customized meal — including any dietary substitutions — served in the morning. “We tried to put together a high-class, high-quality food experience,” Mark says. “We have four options that cover savory, sweet, American Southwest and light breakfast.” Breakfast is served in the indoor or outdoor dining areas, but it can also be delivered as room service.

Mark has also started serving dinner several nights a week. The order-ahead menu offers four options, including spaghetti and meatballs and New York strip steak. “In our opinion, breakfast, or any meal, should be an experience,” Debbie says.

Although the Grand Canyon is the main attraction in the area, the Santys make a point to tell guests about some
of the hidden gems. They’ll even help plan a trip. Most visitors, though, come for an easy getaway. And that’s OK with the Santys.

“Our goal is that our guests will leave better than they came,” Debbie says. “We just want you to come in and be enveloped by the peace, love and care that we give.”
